Love Your Pet Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the LOVE YOUR PET Blog Hop!!!

I became inspired to do this hop after watching those commercials against cruelty to animals done by the ASPCA. Let me tell you about me and crying.... I cry with any little thing!! Right now the one that just kills me is the one where there is this lady remembering her dad through out the years...Oh my gosh!!! But as soon as I hear the music to the commercials put by the ASPCA I just start!!!! I don't even have to watch it!!

So, I went and researched a little bit on these commercials and found out that April is their month against animal cruelty. I am not being paid by the ASPCA nor are they aware that I am doing this to raise awareness. What I do want to do is to let you know that you can do something to help fight against this horrible act. If you wish to donate to their foundation you can follow the appropriate links on their website. But, you can also help a lot without monetary donations! If you follow this LINK it will take to some pages that show you what you can do to fight against animal cruelty. Take a peek and see what things you can do in your community to help fight this cause!

The ASPCA asks everyone to GO ORANGE for animals!!! So with that in mind I asked a group of awesome crafters to create something about pets and to use the color orange!!!

We got Sasha (our chocolate lab) 4 years ago during Valentine's week as a surprise for my hubby. We actually had to tell him before because, well it was a pricey tag to hide!

We had sworn that we would never ever ever ever have a dog inside the house! and when Sasha came.... it was a completely different story!! I have to show you some of my favorite pictures. I hope you don't get bored!!

Bedtime with my older boy!!
Love this picture!!!
Tell me if this is not LOVE!!!
She LOVES the pool!!!
Hubby laying on Sasha's bed!

I created a two-page layout about Sasha and Abby (my three year-old princess).

Materials Used:
Treasure Box Designs " Pampered Pooch" pattern
My Creative Time's ~3 Sets
DCWV Pet Stack
Core'Dinations carstock

And how about some candy??

I have a cute packet full of pet things! and of course many orange things!!!
Too many to list, so here is the pictures! There are other things to make any pet project just beautiful!!

I also have 4 yes!! FOUR patterns from TREASURE BOX DESIGNS
who is sponsoring this hop!!!

If you can't wait to see if you won these cute patterns go visit
They have a 40% off sale going on right now!!!

I will have ONE winner for the TBD patterns and
ONE winner for all the scrapping goodies!

***Leave a comment here telling me what you remember
the most about your first pet

Oh my...what a beautiful dog and what a cute layout!
I remember that my first pet was a very sweet and loving dog and his name didn't match his demeanor at all...his name was "Mean Joe", but he definitely wasn't mean...that is just what my ex-husband named him for some reason.
Thank-you for the great inspiration with this layout!

I love your layouts, and now I know where you get your cute looking animals from! What I remember most about my pet was his brindle fur, we called him Tiger. He was a pit bull and was really playful. Sadly he was stolen from us and we never saw him again. :( Now I have a pit bull, Buddha, and a chihuahua, Bear, and wouldn't trade them for the world!

Great layout. I cry when I see those commercials too. So sad that people can be so cruel to animals that are so innocent.

My first dog was a little mix and he was small enough that he fit in my dad's shirt pocket. Thats how he brought him home to me.

My first pet (that I remember) was white albino bunny named "Snowball". :) I had her for about 4 years or so? She was super friendly. In my lifetime I've had three house rabbits and all have been super sweet (and litter trained!) and one outside rabbit who wasn't quite as nice, but I am sure it is because they didn't get as much attention. :)

Love your page - thanks for hosting this hop! It was so much fun!

Well, I am right here with you on those commercials. My three year old granddaughter starts to sob uncontrollably when they come on, so we turn them off quickly!

I love your layout! We just had to have my hubby's 15 year old chocolate lab, Jacob Marley the Christmas Dog, put down...we miss him terribly.

We have a rescue yorkie of 16, a 5 year old yorky, a rescue shorky age 3 (shitzu/yorky) and a new yorky puppy who is 8 months old! My memories have always been filled with puppies or pets of some sort - Just can't imagine my life without a dog in it!

Your LO and pictures are absolutely precious! And that PUP...so darn cute!! Great cause for a blog hop Abby. Those commercials are heart wrenching..especially when Sheryl breaks out with "In the arms of an angel"....kills me all those sad eyes, boney bodies with sore...who could do that to an animal? I've always said...if someone could hurt an animal they would do the same to a person. My first pet...a Long Coated Chihuahua named ChiChi. I became real sick as a child and that pup wouldn't leave my bedside. She was way over standard..homley sitting by my moms Yorkies..but she was LOYAL!

However I have 2 wonderful cats now. One of them actually found 2 tumors and wakes me up when my blood sugar is low. She has never been trained she just knows:) I just found your blog and am now a follower:) 9101785091401987019105

Great layout and I love the photos of your dog. I can barely remember our first dog. He was a German Shepherd and was famous for hearing someone take the metal lid off the glass candy bowl. No matter how quietly you did it Ranger would appear. :-) I had forgotten all about that until just now. Thanks for the memory.

This is so cute! I love your attention to detail! The like paw print border around the photos is adorable!

Both my husband and I grew up without pets so our kitty Joben is both our first pet. He's a tuxedo manx and I LOVE HIM!!! A friend of ours rescued his mom and she ended up having kittens the next day! She was barely a year old herself and didn't know how to look after the kittens, so they had to be hand fed and raised by my friend. Luckily she's a vet! This rescue cat introduced all kinds of sickness into the house and after the kittens were born there were 11 cats in the house so they need to find homes and I couldn't say no! Now, a year and a half later, he's a full grown, healthy, athletic!, loving and playful little part of our family and neither my husband or I could live without him!

I could go on and on about him but long story short, not a single day goes by that he doesn't make me smile :)

PS there's a pic of him on my latest blog post if you wanna see my lil cutie!

What an awesome LO. I love all the details. My first pet was my cat Warlock, he was black as night and my guard cat. During the day when I worked he'd go outside and when I came home at night he'd come home. He "barked" at me, we would eat dinner and curl up on the couch and watch tv. He was truly my companion for 7 years. He had gotten sick and I was gonna take him to the vet the next day. As I was leaving for work I tried making him stay inside, but he ran past me and got out. When I returned from work he wasn't waiting for me. Days passed and I called, and called for him. A couple weeks passed and still nothing. I finally found him, under my shed, passed away. He must have felt that he needed to get out one last time. I miss him so much.

I don't remember my first pet - I was a baby & we moved & our dog couldn't come with us to the rental but Mom tells of a salesman coming in the yard & the dog growled at him. he never growled at anyone but the guy was trying to be nice & picked up one of my sister's shoes that was on the walkway - Mom told him to drop the shoe

The first pet that I do remember was Crackers - he was a cat that adobt us - then a black cat came to stay but they stayed outside(never tried to come in) but loved to be petted & snuggle anytime one of us kids would sit down

My very first pet was my dog Rusty. I was walking home from school with my brothers and sisters and we saw this little tail poking up out of the weeds, when it got to us, it was Rusty! We brought him home and begged to keep him. Our parents looked for the owner and discovered that poor Rusty had been kicked down the stairs by the drunken husband and broken both of his front legs, they could not afford to pay for him to have the bones that had healed badly reset. Ee took him in, loved him dearly (he always did have bowed legs) but he lived to be 18 years old and his life was filled with love and happiness.

My first pet was a black lab, named Duke. He was well-trained and one of the most loving dogs that I ever had. If I was upset, he would come over and put his head on my lap. If I needed someone to talk too, he was there. When I was about 5 years old, I was eating a 'babe ruth' candy bar. Duke decided he wanted some and jumped up on me...His paw landed in my mouth and ripped my tongue open. I don't know who felt worse, me or Duke....He didn't mean to do it...

This is an awesome blog hop! Not only is orange my favorite color but I am an animal lover :) I remember my first pet...she had to be put down when I was 5. We have always had a dog or cat or both growing up. When I had kids, we rented for years and couldn't have pets. We finally bought a house 6 years ago and we got a Great Dane (yep, he lived in the house). Sadly, he had a heart condition and only lived 5 years. I am making a scrapbook because he was our first family pet :)

I remember we had a doberman (sp) her being very protective of the family. She was such a good dog. I was so sad when she got sick. Your layout is adorable. Great job.

I just finished your awesome blog hop. Great projects from so many talented people.
My memory of my first pet is of Trouble - my dad named her. She was a beautiful long haired tabby cat. She had a very unique meow. My cousin found her astride her horse. Her family had dogs so they couldn't keep her. Lucky for us! I miss her and her meowing at any little thing.

Wow, I'm the 100th comment (well unless someone else is leaving one). As an avid pet lover, I love this idea.

I was so young and I don't remember much of my childhood but I do remember (this is soooo embarassing) that I used to dress our cat Bogie (named after Humphrey Bogart) in baby clothes and make him sit in a baby seat (he was very, very patient, especially for a Siamese).

Love all your pages. The pampered pet is sooooo cute! Really looks like your dog.
My first pet was a black cocker who my father rescued. Someone had pups and left them in a box in a freight car. Dad and a few of his co-workers each took one of the pups. We named him Hobo (appropriate huh)? He was a sweetheart that actually lived for 21 years. The family adored him.

Love your layout!! I really can't remember what my first pet was, my mom says I started picking up strays ever since I started to walk! I've adopted (and kept) my pets until they pass. These have included dogs, cats, bunnies, guinea pigs, hamsters, hermit crabs, and a collection of birds (finches, canaries) and parrots (cockatiels, love birds and an orange winged amazon) and fish. My husband keeps telling me that we have to buy a ranch...we currently have two adopted pit bulls, two hamsters, a hermit crab and an aquatic turtle.

What a great idea for a hop. Those commercials always get me too. My first memory of my baby Lala was how she would always stay by our side. Now she's independent and all grown up. She'll be 6 this Monday :)

Love your layout & that you are trying to bring awareness to such a worthwhile cause. I can't watch those commercials without bawling.

I lost my almost 13 yr old collie huskie mix Nikita 3 yrs ago. My heart is still broken over her loss. Even though she lived a good long life, it wasn't long enough for me. I miss her every day & still can't look at her pics or talk about her without crying. I have yet to bring another animal into my home or my heart. I don't think I could deal with another loss.

I love the puppies you used on your layout!!!

I had a lot of pets growing up - fish, gerbils, budgies, turtles, a pigeon, and a cat. The pigeon was awesome because he would follow my dad around the yard like a little puppy and would obey a few commands like "go for dinner" "go to bed". We only had him for a little while because we were nursing him back to health, but he was fun while he was around!

I'm going to love this blog hop because I have four dogs and two cats! Hmmm . . . my best memory of my first pet . . . she was a Schnoodle named Jodi, and she was an escape artist. We didn't have a crate, and that little girl escaped EVERYTHING we used to keep her in rooms. Hopping on now! --dbonczek@comcast.net

Your layout is just adorable! Our first dogs name was Ginger. She was so much fun. My brother and I would play hide and seek with her and even taught her how to do a card trick. I still miss her to this day and it has been 30 years. I now have three yorkies and just love them to pieces. I would have more if hubby would let me. Hope you have a wonderful day. oh my.. my first pet was my cat, shadow! i wanted a cat for years and years and finally, when i was in high school, my parents got us a cat! my dad picked her out at the spca..

she was the runt of the litter - she was all scruffy looking and had a sore eye.. like me, my dad has a soft spot for the underdog!

she grew up to have her own personality.. she was very sassy and didn't like very many people.. she even scared me sometimes LOL.. but we all loved her so much!

unfortunately, she was hit by a car after only 5 years.. we still think about her and miss her dearly.. rip shadow.. xoxox

Your dog is so cute! I have always had a dog (until now ~ I can't have one at my apartment).

The first dog I remember is our dog Tammy ~ she was a Shepard/Beagle mix and was so funny. When my parents were packing the car for our month long vacation to Maine she would jump into the car and they would have to pack (for 7 people 9 including my grandparents) around her. She was ensuring they were not going to leave her behind!

Great idea for a hop! There are too many cases of animal neglect/abuse out there and some walk away with a slap on the wrist.

Abby, Thanks so much for having this Hop. We have 4 cats, 3 are rescue and one is a Persian (Max) that my husband fell in love with & had to have. Max has an upper respiratory problem the Breeder didn't tell us about...shame on her.
While we can't stand the commercials & turn the channel every time we hear them, we try to understand their reasoning. We believe it has the opposite effect and turns most people off. Everyone we talk to feels the same way. It would appear that most of your readers do as well. I wished they would see your blog & try a different approach of getting the word out. Didn't mean to ramble, but you hit on something dear to us. Thanks again. I will become a follower.

Hi, Abby! Twice in the same weekend! Girl, you have more energy than the Energizer bunny! I saw this when I was on the other hop and knew I had to participate as this is a cause near and dear to me. Unfortunately, I became sidetracked and am just now getting back to it. You Lab is gorgeous and your layout depicts wonderfully that she is a real member of your family. I have 2 greyhounds and 3 cats, all rescues. I have volunteered with the Humane Society and one of the Greyhound rescue groups here and have seen first hand the mistreatment and sometimes torture too many animals are subjected to. I commend you for doing this... you're an angel working on behalf of the creatures who can't speak for themselves.

My first pet was actually two cats, Pinky and Waldo (sister and brother). Waldo died when I was 5, Pinky lived to be 21. They were 3 when I was born, gifts from my Dad's aunt when my older brother was born. Pinky was my bff, taught me everything I needed to know: how important it was to be clean, how to cross the street (look both ways 3 times each), how to be kind when someone was sad or sick, etc. She put up with me dressing her in baby doll gowns and pushing her in an old stroller with a broken wheel! Still miss her 35 years later.

It is kinda nice to know that I am not the only cry baby out there. LOL. Those commercials get me every time.

I've had a few pets over the years, but only one heart dog. You know that one dog that entires your life & touches something deep inside that no other has ever touched before. The one who holds your heart in her paws. And that would be my currecnt dog Abby.

I could go on & on all day about her, but let me just say that we have that special connection that enables her to know my true heart. I got Abby when she was 8 wks old & when she was 4 she was diagnosed with kidney disease. Let's just say I bawled for weeks.

Through the grace of god that was 2 years ago & she is still with me. I know I am living on borrowed time with her & I cherish every moment that God gives me with my best friend & dread the day he takes her home with him.

Wonderful theme for a blog hop.

I was very sick when i was around 7 and 8 cause it took a long time to recover. But One of my great uncles would travel to our state to fox hunt. If there was mother fox they would leave them alone but sometimes that didn't happen and he would bring the babies home to all of us kids. They were so cute. Any ways my first pet was a fox and I had named him Freddie The Freeloader. He was feed with my doll bottle. He went everywhere with me he slept with me and we had a good time. My dad did Shift work and when he would come home there i would be in bed and he could see Freddies little nose stick out of the cover. He used to laugh about that with me for many years.
