Dia de los Muertos/A Celebration of life Blog Hop

Welcome to El Día de los Muertos/
A Celebration of Life Blog Hop!!!

Please read all the post! I know it's long but I promise you will not regret it!!! :) and if the music bothers you.... hmmm just click mute! hehe

I am very excited to be hosting this hop with my BFF, Gaby! I was thinking a few months back how we don't see a lot of Latino theme scrapping things and well.... here it is!!!
El Dia de los Muertos is not in any way a celebration of death itself. El Dia de los Muertos is a time to honor those people in our lives that have passed away. It is a time to celebrate the life they had and to remember them by bringing out their favorite things. One thing that is very customary to do, are altars.
I created one for my grandpa.

This is a place where you decorate and put pictures and all the favorite things your loved ones loved. For example my grandpa's altar has LOTS of pictures because he was a professional photographer, there is a Tecate beer, tequila shot glasses, and did you notice the jar of mayo? Well, he put that thing on EVERYTHING he ate!

It is a VERY colorful celebration! Another staple of el Dia de los Muertos are decorated sugar skulls.

I have seen the kits to make this at teacher stores... wouldn't that be a fun class project?! Well, I found this free image for those teachers that might want to have a quick Dia de los Muertos art project.

Onto my projects, I created a few things. I got inspired!! My first project is a layout of my grandpa.

and a few cards!
Using free image from google

Don't you just love Minnie dressed for Dia de los Muertos?!!

Used Rock Princess and DCWV Mi Casa stack

and one more project! I did this drawing inspired by Frida Kahlo! All by hand!!!

What do you think? I still have a few more things!!

I have one more card featuring Market Street Stamps... why????
GIVEAWAY #1
Angelica donated the BFFs collection!!! Yes, my favorite!! If you are thinking of buying some stamps... I highly recommend these!!! Really!! They are a good size and come with super cute sentiments!!

GIVEAWAY #2
I found Flor Larios through Angelica and I fell in love with her art! She has donated this beautiful print.
and the GRAND GIVEAWAY!!
A Monsterville collection!!! Look at all the things one lucky hopper will get!!!

Now, this is what you have to do:

In order to qualify for the GRAND GIVEAWAY you HAVE to leave a comment on each participating blog. After leaving a comment on all the blogs come back here and tell me you did the hop!

For the Giveaways #1 and #2 leave a comment here telling me which project from here is your favorite! There will be three winners here!!! plus all the other giveaways on the rest of the blogs!!!

Now, go on!! hop around!!!
or in Spanish "a brincar" hmmm doesn't make sense in Spanish!:

Abby www.scrapbookaholicbyabby.com You are here!

Winner of the Gaby Abby Challenge is posted to the right on the side bar.

You have until Tuesday midnight to hop around, we will choose a winner Wednesday and post winner that same day!

My favorite project of yours is your layout of your father, one reason being that great photo with his hat cocked over one eye. He looks like a lot of fun!! Awesome layout. And I know favorite means one, but I just can't keep it to one. My other favorite of yours is the card with your drawing! I love Frida; she has interested me for several years since I saw a movie about her life. Way to you with all of your things! I love that you value your heritage so much and celebrate is so happily!

Just setting off on the blog (kids had the computer all day) but I loved your post. The layout honoring your grandpa was my favorite followed by the minnie card. It made me chuckle!! Your post was coincidental - over the weekend my niece asked me to help her with a class projwect - making candy skulls. I honestly had no idea what they were until I googled.

I'm suppose to choose one when they are all so great. Love that you're sharing this Latin tradition with everyone. I'll have to remember these card ideas for my co-worker next year. TFS. Can't wait to see what the others did. Love blogs hops
